Jetmore – Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Appel, 80, passed away March 3, 2021 at The University of Kansas Health System HaysMed Campus, Hays, KS.

She was born January 15, 1941 in Dodge City, the daughter of Lawrence G. and Louise Peterson Grumbein.  A longtime area resident, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Jetmore.  She enjoyed bowling and her annual weekends to the Kansas State Fair.  She was a huge K-State fan, loved her family and was very proud of her grandchildren and always enjoyed seeing her great grandkids.

On April 16, 1961 she married Johnnie D. Appel in Jetmore.  He passed away July 14, 2004.

Survivors include: two sons, Mike (Phyllis) Appel, Dodge City and John Pat Appel, Topeka; a daughter, Robyn R. Appel, Great Bend; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashley) Appel, Jetmore, Amy (Jon) Eilert, Beloit, Josh Appel, Mason City, IA, Caleb Appel, Topeka and six great grandchildren, Korbin, Colt, Quinn, Callie, Kassidy and Cambryn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with Joe and Carolyn Tarman presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore.
