Obituary

Kenneth Clay Fenwick, 83, passed away October 28, 2024 at his home in Larned.

He was born May 31, 1941 in Hutchinson, the son of Henry C. and E. Irene Helwig Fenwick.

Moving from Ulysses, he was an area resident for fifty-six years. He was member of First Christian Church, Larned Area Chamber of Commerce, Santa Fe Trail Rodeo Association, Rotary Club, and Paul Harris Fellow, all of Larned. He was a pilot, banker at First National Bank, partner in AVI John Deere, co-founder and owner of Mr. Automotive Auto Parts Store, Larned. Ken was the organizer and announcer of the Tired Iron Show for over twenty years and served on the Larned Township Board as a member and chair. He loved western movies, and all outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, cars, and drag racing when he was young.

On January 24, 1990 he married Beverly A. Suchy at Alamosa, Colorado; she survives.

Other survivors include: five children, Tonia (Russ) Bomhoff, Poulsbo, Washington, Kevin Fenwick, Kempner, Texas, Leigh (Doug) Briggs, Olathe, Jodi (Ash Lesniak) Lightfoot, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Christina (Andrew Volk) Peters, Steamboat Springs, Colorado; brother, Larry D. (Lyn) Fenwick, Byers, Kansas; two step brothers, David Preston, Kansas City, Dr. Kevin Preston, Windsor, Colorado; twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two step brothers, Dr. Richard Preston and Mike Preston.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Damon Bradley presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary with family present from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.
