Larned - Kenneth W. Showalter, 96, died November 21, 2008 at Canon City, Colorado.

He was born October 5, 1912 in Sylvia the son of David Milton and Mary Matilda Hofen Showalter. A longtime Larned resident he was owner and operator of Ken's Photos in Pawnee County.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Methodist Men both of Larned, and Radium and the Ash Valley Granger.

On August 7, 1935 he married Glenna Pauline Dupree in Larned. She died May 10, 1978.

Kenneth moved to California in 1980 and married Marietta Huffman. Due to Failing health, he
moved back to the Kansas/Colorado area in 2000 to be near his family.

Survivors include; son, David,and wife Cheryl, Canon City, Colorado, daughter Mrs. Roland (Evelyn) Reece, Wichita, six grandchildren, Donna and Don Stejskal, Burdett, Deana and Ivan Roberts, Pawnee Rock, Daryl and Geri Reece, Olathe, Laura and Stephen Roberts, Harker Heights, Texas, Kathy and Doug Beach, Salida, Colorado, and Kristin and Gerald Tryhane, Farmington, New Mexico, seventeen great grandchildren and one great – great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by; three brothers, Virgil, Harley, Wilford and three sisters, Minnie Thompson, Lorene Jennings and Hazel.

Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Bob Gleason presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kansas.

Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Youthville, both of Larned or the Radium Senior Center.
