Obituary

Larned – Kerry Houston Greathouse, 69, passed away February 2, 2016, at his home in Larned.

He was born May 3, 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Rufus Houston and Lily Mae Fortenberry Greathouse. He moved from Alabama in 1956 and served in the United States Navy for 16 years.

He attended the Assembly of God Church in Larned. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include: a daughter, Shila Greathouse, Winfield; two sons, Lance Greathouse, Wichita and Bill Greathouse, Florida; a girlfriend, Josephine H. Sparks, Larned; two sisters, Joyce Sucht, Wichita, Ann Wilcox, Larned; sister-in-law, Joyce Greathouse, Larned; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents: five brothers, Charles, Caris, Ralph, Jerry and Terry Greathouse and a sister, Barbara Erway.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Rev. Daryl Riffel presiding. Inurnment of ashes will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, Kansas 67550.
