Larry Fred Barnes, 74, passed away June 7, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS.

He was born November 26, 1947 in Goodland, KS, the son of John and Evelyn Schindler Barnes. He moved to Larned in 1978 with his wife Peggy.  She passed in April 1989. He was a mechanic/ parts manager for Chevrolet dealerships for many years.

Most of His life revolved around cars. He used to drag race and enjoyed racing remote control cars. He loved his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include: three sons, Leonard Barnes, St. Francis, KS, Dustin Barnes, Larned, KS, Blain Barnes, Conway Springs, KS; daughter, Amber Barnes, Goodland, KS; five grandchildren, Jonathan Barnes, Eric Barnes, Aidan Barnes, Kutter Barnes, Conley Barnes and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial graveside will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at Larned Cemetery, Larned with Bob Sallee presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022. Following the service there will be a time of remembrance until 5:00 p.m. at the Jordan Room.
