Obituary

Jetmore – L. LaVern Spreier, 96, died April 7, 2009, at the Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

He was born December 6, 1912, at Rozel, the son of Fred and Belva Ricks Spreier. A lifetime area resident, he was the first Soil Conservationist in Hodgeman County.

He belonged to the United Presbyterian Church, Elder and trustee for the church, Jetmore. He was a graduate of Fort Hays State Teachers College and a member of the Lewis Field Pioneers, played semi pro baseball, loved woodworking and was a coach and teacher at Rozel High School.

On July 16, 1940, he married Lucille W. Wilson at LaCrosse. She died August 5, 2002.

Survivors include: a son, Scott Spreier, Dallas, Texas; daughter, Linda Hardgrove, Estes Park, Colorado; brother, Everett Spreier, Larned; sister, Marjorie Fuller, Garden City; Five Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Salmans.

Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore, with Rev. Mark Durham presiding. Friends may call from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.

Memorials may be sent to the United Presbyterian Church or the Long Term Care Center, Jetmore, in care of the funeral home.
