Lenora Jane Cooper, 94, passed away October 23, 2025 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.
She was born October 11, 1931 in Larned, the daughter of Paul Revere and Edna Lavon Smith Troutman.
A lifetime area resident, she worked at the telephone office switchboard in Kinsley during high school and prior to her marriage.
She moved to the farm northwest of Burdett where she lived her whole married life and raised her family. She was busy helping on the farm and raising the kids for several years. She loved camping, boating, fishing, gardening, and making wonderful homemade rolls for every holiday. She was always sewing and made most of the children's clothes until she started working. When she retired, she started quilting. She has made several quilts including jean quilts for her grandkids. She also made quilts for the church, enjoying the day they would all spend together finishing them.
She was a 4-H project leader, member of Shiley EHU, sewing club, pinochle club for over fifty years, Burdett Seniors and Burdett Methodist Church. She enjoyed coffeetime at the senior center and exercise class.
On December 26, 1951 she married Junior Dean Cooper at Kinsley; he preceded her in death on February 14, 2019.
Survivors include: two sons, Ron (LaRue) Cooper, Burdett, Terry (Haydee) Cooper, South Korea; daughter, Nada (Kirk) Wells, Alexander; brother, Dean (Marta) Troutman, Mesa, Arizona; sister, Sharon Troutman, Kinsley; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way.
