Obituary

Dr. Leonardo B. Mabugat, simply known to friends as Len, passed away on November 30, 2019 at the age of 81 at Hays Medical Center, Kansas.

Len was born on November 6, 1938 in Manila, Philippines. He has a degree in Bachelor of Science in Psychology and attended the University of Santo Tomas where he obtained his medical degree.  He married Sonia Cuevas on September 28, 1968.
They moved from Connecticut to Larned in 1996.  He was a physician at Larned State Hospital and a Medical Director at Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, KS.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned, and a member of the American Medical Association and Kansas Medical Association.  He was a kind-hearted, fun spirited guy. He loved to dance, loved to sing, read, host parties, but mostly to talk to his grandchildren. He was a family man above all.
Len was preceded in death by his father, Querubin Mabugat; his mother, Purificacion Mabugat; and his sister, Vilma Quiambao.
He survived by his wife of 51 years, Sonia Cuevas Mabugat; 2 daughters, Sonia M. Eaton, Connecticut; Elenita M. Rios (Ric Rios), New Jersey; his brother, Querubin Mabugat Jr, California; sister, Zenaida Magboo, Philippines; and his three grandchildren, Donovan M. Eaton, Jonathan M. Eaton, and Isa M. Rios.
A celebration of Len's life will be held at Beckwith Mortuary.  Visitation will be Wednesday, December 4th, 9am to 6pm, followed by a Vigil and Rosary at 6pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 5th, at 10:30am at the mortuary.
