Jetmore – Lester Walter Wenndt, 95, passed away September 28, 2024 at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

He was born March 20, 1929 at Lowden, Iowa, Cedar County, the son of Walter and Anna Kruckenberg Wenndt. A longtime Jetmore resident, he managed the Jetmore Grain and Feed, was a truck driver and was a chairman for Run Across Kansas for 12 years.

Lester attended Lutheran Parochial school and high school in Lowden. He worked on the family farm when he joined the U.S. Army in 1950, serving in Korea and discharged in 1954, then he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1972.

On June 13, 1972 he married Flora D. Merrill in Salina, KS.  She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, David (Janis) Moore, Blythewood, SC, George Stephen (Kristi) Moore, Jetmore; five grandchildren, Christopher (Carolyn) Moore, Sterling, Anthony (Rachel) Moore, Jetmore, Nickolas Moore, Sarasota, FL, Brian (Katie) Wilson, Ridgeway, SC, Kayla Moore, Fort Myers, FL; ten great grandchildren and two on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammee E. McVey; two brothers, Wilbert Wenndt and Dale Wenndt; two sisters, Phyllis Boedeker and Lavone Driscoll.

Memorial Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with Pastor Mark Durham presiding.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore.  Inurnment will follow the service with military graveside honors.
