Jetmore – Linda Joanne Housman, 86, passed away September 13, 2026 at Hodgeman County Health Center, ISB, Jetmore.
She was born December 29, 1939 at her home in Hodgeman County, Kansas, the daughter of Christie R. and Thelma L. Henderson Bamberger. Linda went 1st through 8th grade at Dry Creek Country School, graduated from Jetmore High School, class of 1957; She graduated from Fort Hays in 1961 and taught school for a total of 24 1/2 years in Cimarron, Jetmore and Hanston.
She was a member of the Jetmore Methodist Church and was in charge of a group that helped at funeral dinners for many years. Linda served on Farm Bureau board and instigated the Pedal Tractor Pull for many years at our county fair and Kansas State Fair. She also served on the Kansas Angus Auxiliary Board, passing of Bonds board to remodel Grade School and building of new Jr. High onto High School and served many years on the Hodgeman County Fair Board.
Linda had a love for cattle and was still raising cows into her later years. She drove truck in the harvest field for many years as well as preparing meals for the harvest crews. She was very active in their family farm operation; she had a love for animals and anything outdoors.
On July 20, 1963, she married James “Jim” LaVerne Housman in Jetmore. He passed away July 13, 2019.
Survivors include: two brothers, Dennis (Betty) Bamberger and Mike (Vanessa) Bamberger, both of Jetmore; sister, Shirley Ulery, Yakima, WA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lockett, Syracuse and Jana (Jerry) Rima, Shell Knob, MO; brother-in-law, Terry (Shari) Housman, Jetmore, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Christie R. Bamberger, JR. and a brothers-in-law, Byron Ulery and Michael Housman.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Jetmore Methodist Church with pastor Maria Grimm and Harmon Bliss presiding. (Family requests casual dress) Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Casket will remain closed. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hodgeman County Fair Association in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854. Condolences may be left at www.beckwithfuneralhome.com.
