Obituary

Larned- Lois Marie Rehorn, 87, died January 21, 2007 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Larned, Kansas.

She was born April 15, 1919 at Larned, the daughter of Charles and Ethel L. Canaday Williamson. A longtime Larned resident she was a retired Director of Nursing at Larned State Hospital, Larned.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Texico, New Mexico, a graduate with a RN degree from Bethany Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, Kansas in 1943, BS degree from Ft. Hays Kansas State University in 1968, and a MS degree in 1970. 1949-1968 she was a supervisor of the Nursing Unit at Larned State Hospital, 1968-1971 she was director of Nursing Edn. at Larned State Hospital, 1972-1981 director of Nursing at Larned State Hospital and retired in 1981. She was a Recipient Order of the Blue Key, Named Nurse of the year in 1986, American Nurses Association Kansas Nurses Association district treasure, New Mexico Nurses Association president 1982-1986 and district Board of Directors 1986-1988, and she was a licensed private pilot.

On February 15, 1946 she married C. Howard Smith at Kansas City, Kansas. He died August 20, 1980. She then married H.W. Rehorn August of 1981. He died February 21, 2005.

Survivors include: a daughter Cindy Huddleston, Larned; two grandchildren, Mic Huddleston, Great Bend, Michelle Hillery, Winona, Kansas; four great-grandchildren; Cody and Kade Huddleston, Great Bend, Kaitlyn and Austin Hillery, Winona, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by two sister, Cecyle Coberly and Anita Williamson.


Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Roy Savage presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
