Spearville – Louise Agnes VanNahmen, 89, passed away September 15, 2016 at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.
She was born December 19, 1926 in Wright, KS., the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Schuette Durler. A lifetime area resident, Louise was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, and managing her farm.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Past Regent at Spearville and was a delegate to the Silver Hair Legislature.
On October 17, 1946, she married (John) Sylvester VanNahmen in Wright. He passed away January 30, 2003.
Survivors include: four sons, Frank (Kim), Offerle; Alan, Manhattan; Fred (Terry), Cimarron; Lyle (LaWana), Spearville; three daughters, Deloyce (Dee) (C.E.) McKee, Manhattan; Ava VanNahmen (John Atkinson) Maumelle, AR; Deana (Landell) Froerer, Huntsville, UT; a brother, Anthony Durler, Dodge City; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Schell; three brothers, Leonard, Joe and Eugene Durler and a sister, Helen Durler.
The Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 4 p.m. Sunday with the vigil service to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Spearville. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with Father John Forkuoh presiding. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Spearville.
Memorials may be given to the Dechant Foundation or the American Cancer Society in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854. Condolences may be left at www.beckwithfuneralhome.com
