Jetmore – Lyle C. Salmans, 78, passed away September 7, 2014, at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.
He was born June 20, 1936, in Larned, the son of Cecil R. and Stella G. Adams Salmans. A lifetime area resident, he was a Dairy Farmer/Rancher and later worked for the Hodgeman County Road Maintenance Department. He retired in June of 2010.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, a session member and a trustee for the church. He was also a Busy Bee Jr's. 4-H member and a Hodgeman County Booster Club member. He belonged to the American Legion and was a Deputy Sheriff for Hodgeman County, all of Jetmore. He served in the United States Navy. He loved to watch his grandkids and enjoyed trips to Colorado.
On August 20, 1956, he married Donna Harms at the Hodgeman County St. Michaels Lutheran Church. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Bruce Salmans and wife Gina, Cimarron, Duane Salmans and wife Kaylin, Dodge City; two daughters, Lyla Lonnberg and husband Kurt, Jetmore and Sara Burke and husband, Justin, Anthony; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two on the way..
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mabel Miller.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore, with Rev. Mark Durham presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore with military graveside rites.
