Larned – Marilyn Sue Winget, 69, went to be with Jesus, on February 18, 2018 at her home in Larned.
She was born August 27, 1948 in Topeka, the daughter of Boyd and Marge Buchanan Hogue. A longtime area resident she was an author, singer and housewife.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Larned. She was a Regional Director of Girls Guild and a member of American Baptist Women. Sue graduated from Topeka West High School in 1966; earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sterling College, Sterling, Kansas in 1978 and her Masters of Liberal Arts in counseling and writing from Baker University, Baldwin City, Kansas in 1987. She was a bible study/prayer leader and public speaker, as well as a Christian counselor and mentor.
On May 31, 1969, she married Gary Winget in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Shawn Winget, Longbeach, CA, Jason (Harmony) Winget, Ellinwood; daughter, Shannon (Mark) Slattery, Larned; brother, Craig (Tammy) Hogue, Wichita; three sisters, Kay (Robert) Baker, Chesterfield, MO, Debi (Rod) Livengood, Tacoma, WA, Marsha (Larry) Smith, Sterling, KS; ten grandchildren, Riann, Ashleigh, Micah, Jeremiah, Jason Seth, Hannah, Ricky, Christopher, Christian and Summer.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Hanston, with Rev. Dr. Gary Winget, Pastor Jason Winget and Pastor Mark Slattery presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
