Larned - Marjorie Helen Stapleton, 80, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the BSA Hospice, Amarillo, Texas.

Marjorie was born July 29, 1928, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Dail and Ella Lawrence. She was raised in Gove County, Kansas. She married Orbie C. Stapleton on September 8, 1947. She worked as a seamstress for the State of Kansas for twenty years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and tatting and she and her husband were active in Shriners, Grange and the Lutheran Church. She lived 53 years in Larned, KS moving to Amarillo from Larned in 2006 to be close to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her oldest son, Jack. Survivors include her sons, Melvin and wife, JoAnn of Amarillo, Texas, Bill and wife, Debbie of Merritt Island, Flordia and a daughter-in-law, Rena Stapleton of Larned; three sisters, Mary Ellen Smith and husband, Don, of Ingleside, Texas, Marcialee Lawrence of Lewis,and Elsie Helget and husband, David, of Hugoton; one brother, Marvin Lawrence and wife, Linda of Lewis; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Sam.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Butch Kirkwood presiding. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
