Jetmore – Marlin L. Spreier, 89, passed away June 27, 2023 at his home in Jetmore.
He was born January 22, 1934 in Rozel, KS, the son of John and Edith G. Tryon Spreier. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/stockman.
He was a past County Commissioner and served in the United States Army.
On November 26, 1955, he married Donna K. Rhoades in Dodge City. She passed away August 13, 2019.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Shelvie (Alfonso) Batres, Alexandria, VA, Kyleen Stimpert, Dodge City, KS, Lanese (Todd) Wherry, Lenexa, KS; one sister, Wanda Henry, Dodge City; six grandchildren, Chad (Doris) Lampe, Megan Schartz, Ashton Wherry, Christian (Ashley) Stimpert, Alyssa Wherry, Andrew Wherry and five great grandchildren, Alyjah Maciel, Austin Maciel, Brynlee Stimpert, Jhettson Stimpert and Desmond Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gilbert Spreier and a sister, Bonnie Horacek.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with Carolyn Tarman presiding. Military graveside honors provided by United States Army and Chester Hawkins American Legion Post #290. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Following the graveside service, all are welcome to join the family at the King Center for a luncheon. Family requests casual dress.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sons of the American Legion, in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
