Larned – Martha H. Zook, 87, died April 8, 2009 at Joplin , Missouri.
She was born November 15, 1921 at Topeka , Kansas the daughter of Dwight Thacher and Helen Muriel Houston Harris. A resident of Larned since 1948 moving from Lawrence, she was a retired Director of Nursing at Larned State Hospital, Larned.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned; the American Association of University Women, the Kansas Association of Nurse Executives and the American Nurse's Association.
On July 2, 1948 she married Paul Warren Zook at Lawrence , Kansas . He died April 21, 1995.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Hughey and husband Jeffery, Joplin , Missouri ; a half-sister, Paula Woody, Grapevine, Texas ; former daughter-in-law Presly Nelson and husband Clark, Garden City, Kansas, and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in dath by her husband, a son, Mark and a brother, Edward Harris.

A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Fr. Bernard Felix presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Church, Sacred Heart Endowment Fund, the American Cancer Society, or Larned Emergency Medical Service in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Inc., P.O. Box 477 , Larned , KS 67550 .
