Mary Ann Schartz, 83, passed away November 15, 2017 at Country Living of Larned.

She was born June 25, 1934 in Larned, the daughter of Joseph Anthony and Cloe Bordewick Desemo. A lifetime area resident, she was a cattleman's/farmers wife and assisted at Reed Pharmacy for twenty-two years.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society and Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary, all of Larned.

On November 27, 1951, she married Vernon Lawrence Schartz in Larned. He passed away June 25, 1988.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael (Jana) Schartz, Larned, Matthew (Danita) Schartz, Great Bend; two daughters, Ann (Kelly) Meyer, Larned and Laura (Scott) Dewerff, Great Bend; two sisters, Sue (Mike) McGurk, Larned and Sarah (Bill) Knoche, Longmont, CO; twelve grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Patty Seeman, Mary Catherine Schartz and a brother, Joe B. Desemo.

Vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery, Larned.
