Obituary

Hanston – Mary K. Housman, 93, passed away December 24, 2018 at Kansas Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge, Kansas.

She was born November 29, 1925 in Nashville, Kansas, the daughter of Jim and Opal Simpson Peterson.  A longtime area resident, she was a Home Extension Agent, Housewife, school bus driver and Cub Scout Leader.

She was a member of the Burdett United Methodist Church, Burdett Senior Center, Hanston V.F.W. Auxiliary, Extension Unit of Hanston, past president of the Hanston Senior Center and was a member of the Silver Hair Legislature.

On July 20, 1952, she married Harold A. Housman in Jetmore.  He died October 6, 1986.

Survivors include: two sons, Dale (Barbara) Housman, Dodge City, Eugene (Donna) Housman, Hanston; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and eight step great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth Peterson.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018, at United Methodist Church, Hanston, with Rev. Dr. Shawn Fletcher presiding.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hanston United Methodist Church or Burdett United Methodist Church in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
