Obituary

Mary Lou Bowman passed away on June 25, 2026 in Salina KS. She was born in Larned Kansas to John “Jim” and Hazel Robertson on March 6, 1933. She married Robert “Bob” Bowman on July 6, 1950. She graduated from Larned High School in 1951. She and Bob had four children: David (Linda Kirby) of Wichita; Susan Rose (David) of Bennington KS; Doug (Sandy) of Perry KS; and Dan of Kansas City, KS.

Mary Lou was a homemaker, wife and extraordinary mother to her family. After the children had left the nest, she was a secretary for Larned High School until her retirement. After she and Bob retired, they enjoyed going antique shopping, gardening, making woodworking and crafts projects for the church, and especially visiting their family and spoiling their grandchildren.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren: Chris Rose (Megan) of Bennington; Brian Rose of Salina: Ben Bowman (Monique) of Anchorage Alaska; Amanda Bowman (Mitchell)of Wichita; Andy Bowman (Casey) of Lawrence; and Ali of Montreal CAN; and one great grandchild Cole Casper of Bennington.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Hazel, sisters Helen, Dorothy and Patty; brothers Hank, Ralph, Don and Joe, and her beloved husband Bob.

Graveside service will be 10:00a.m. Thursday, July 2nd at Larned Cemetery in Larned KS with Mitchell Southerland presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1st at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Lou’s memory to Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City; and Salina Animal Services, both in care of Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, Kansas 67550. Personal condolences may be left at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
