Larned – Melba Joy Adams, 95, passed away January 5, 2026 at Southwind Home in Pratt.
She was born September 23, 1930 in La Crosse, Kansas, the daughter of Pete and Martha Ebel Fritzler. Moving from Lyons to Arizona, and then Larned, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lyons Kansas. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Gold Canyon, Arizona where she was active in the Church Choir. She had a beautiful soprano voice. She was a member of Bridge Club, past member of Larned PEO. Throughout her life she enjoyed watching all sports, playing cards and games, coordinating community concerts, traveling extensively, and reminiscing about her family tree and heritage.
On August 26, 1951 she married Jack McClain at Russell; he preceded her in death on December 21, 1977.
She later married Larry Adams in October of 1982 at Lyons; he preceded her in death on March 18, 2004.
Survivors include: two sons, Steve (Nancy) McClain, Pratt; Eric McClain, Seal Beach, California; son-in-law, Frank Burris, Larned; five grandchildren, Matt McCoy, Seattle, Washington, Lindsey (Jaeson) Cline, Garfield, Austin (Heather) McClain, Lauren McClain, Julieann Joy (Dustin) Weber, all of Pratt; seven great grandchildren, Gunnar, Breckyn, Brogaen Cline, Lukas, Blair, Greta, Pierce McClain, one great grandchild, Baby Weber, on the way; niece, Robbie Mahan, Albuquerque, New Mexico; nephew, Jeff (Paula) Mahan, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Sandra Burris; sister, Bonnie Mahan; brother, Dean Fritzler.
A private family graveside will be held at Lyons Cemetery. Public visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 2-5 p.m.
