Dodge City – Melvin C. Law Sr., 68, died July 28, 2010, at his home in Dodge City.
He was born February 25, 1942, in Jetmore, the son of James W. and Laura Corey Law. A lifetime area resident, he worked at the Farmland Nitrogen Plant in the maintenance department for 31 years.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and V.F.W. Dodge City. He served in the United States Army and stationed in Puerto Rico.
On October 27, 1962, he married Cecelia Ann Walker in Dodge City. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Mel Law and wife Sheila, Dodge City and a daughter, C.J. Law, Nickolasville, Kentucky; two sisters, Barbara Son, Dodge City, Nancy Staats, Spearville; six Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Law Jr.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Jetmore with Rev. Kirk Larson presiding. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with military graveside rites.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Association or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
