Haviland – Michael Scott Matthews, 36, died October 09, 2006, at the Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt.
He was born June 16, 1970 at El Passo, Texas to Roy and Rose Matthews Welch. A Haviland resident since 2000 moving from Newton, he was a farmer.
He was a member of the VFW, Larned; Edwards County Volunteer Fire Department and Kansas Outlaws both of Kinsley.
On February 27, 1998 he married Vickie Lynn Griffin. She survives.
Other survivors include: mother, Rose Welch, Celina, Tennessee; wife, Haviland; three sons, Andrew Tinsley, Moss, Tennessee, Nicholas Dunagen, Celina, Tennessee, David Griffin, Larned; two daughters, Jessica Woods, Heather Haney, both of Larned; two brothers, Eric Matthews, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Johnathon Welch, Lebanon, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Ethan Banman, Tori Griffin, Becca Griffin, Taylor Woods, Trinity Woods, Landon Haney, Haylee Haney, all of Larned; longtime friend and employer, Dean and Carol Welsch, Haviland.
A pictorial memorial will be held Friday, October 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jeremy and Jessie Woods residence at Rt. 2 box 85, Larned. Funeral Service will be held at a later date in Celina, Tennessee. Local arrangements were by Beckwith Mortuary, Inc., Larned.
