Obituary

Morgan Lee Cavanaugh of Jetmore, Kansas, died April 7, 2021, in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born in The Bronx, New York, August 13, 1947, to Bernard and Jean (Covati) Cavanna. She was an only child who grew up in The Bronx spending time with her Italian relatives and friends, going to school and church, and enjoying time in the country where she rode horses.

After her formative years in The Bronx, Morgan attended Marymount College in Salina, and while in Kansas, she married Robert (Bob) Bolin. After various business ventures in Kansas and the Gulf Coast, Morgan and Bob divorced. She returned to New York to help care for her family and work for various New York businesses including advertising, veterinary medicine, and equine care.

She opened The Black Hound (Cheval Et Chien) in Wilton, Connecticut, where she spent years grooming and caring for animals. She was passionate about quality care for dogs and horses. Her friendships with local veterinarians, vet techs, groomers, and her clients in the New York and Connecticut area filled her life with great joy. Morgan also devoted time to care for AIDS patients and people who were less fortunate.

In 2014, Morgan returned to Kansas where she settled in Hodgeman County. She preferred living in the country and continued to maintain contact with her friends in New York and Connecticut while adapting to her new life in Southwest Kansas. An avid reader, she spent countless hours reading books on various topics and loved to engage people in conversation about what she had learned. Morgan was quick-witted and enjoyed sparring with people on topics of interest. She spent much time researching and finding solutions to problems, and she would willingly share ideas like how to rid mice from your country home without causing them harm. Morgan never met a stranger, only potential friends.

Always an independent woman who enjoyed new experiences, Morgan continued to live her life in Kansas with her strong New York Italian spirit. She was proud of her family heritage and the positive impact she had helping people and helping animals during her career. Her previous college experience in Kansas was the inspiration for her to return for the last part of her life. She was impressed by cattle ranching operations and rural life, and she enjoyed her retirement in the little farmhouse on the prairie.

Morgan was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Jean, her paternal grandparents Peter and Maria (Mazzochi) Cavanna, and her maternal grandparents Joseph and Catherine (Boselli) Covati.

She is survived by her longtime New York and Connecticut friends Valerie Basciano and Pam Tobiason, and her Kansas friends Evelyn Bruce and Kelly and Wayne Schwartz.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.  Memorials can be made in Morgan's honor to the Kansas Humane Society in care of

Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
