Neil Vernon Meckfessel, 80, passed away March 8, 2023 at Country Living of Larned.

He was born March 16, 1942 in Great Bend, the son of Vernon Henry and Ella Angela Wilson Meckfessel.  A lifetime area resident; he was a farmer.

He was a member of the former Rozel United Methodist Church, Larned Country Club and was a past member of Pawnee Heights School Board. He enjoyed making stained glass, racing cars, golfing, hunting and traveling. He served military duty in the Army National Guard.

He Married Vergie Ideker and together they had two children, Jason Vernon and Brooke Suzanne Meckfessel. He later married Patricia Colleen Engler on March 17, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV.  She passed away August 22, 2013.

Survivors include: two sisters, Anita Witcher, Elkhart, KS, Audrey (DeeJay) Hubbard, San Mateo, CA, brother-in-law Alan Converse, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason Vernon Meckfessel; daughter, Brooke Suzanne Meckfessel and a sister, Naomi Converse.

Memorial graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Garfield Cemetery, Garfield with Pastor Linda Doyle presiding.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Beckwith Mortuary with family present from 5-7 p.m.
