Shawnee – Nelda Rae Pakkebier, 80, passed away June 30, 2023 in Shawnee, Kansas.

She was born May 9, 1943 in Great Bend, the daughter of Malvin and Harriet Grandy Ford.

A lifetime resident of Pawnee and Rush Counties. She was a teacher and then later a mail carrier and she also helped her husband farm near Sanford. She was a member of the Rozel Methodist church and served on church committees at Rozel and Lacrosse Methodist Churches; a member of EHU Extension Unit, Rozel, Colorful Calico's, Lacrosse, and was active in 4-H as a project leader. She enjoyed woodworking, painting, stained glass, and stitchery.

On August 6, 1966 she married Marvin Edward Pakkebier at Rozel; he preceded her in death on August 16, 2017.

Survivors include: two daughters, Pam (Ty) Welsh of Shawnee and Lea Pakkebier; seven grandchildren, Tyson, Trenton, Carly, Tanner, Ben, Rylie, Allie (Anthony); two brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Sarah Leslie presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, Kansas.
