Obituary

Hanston – Nolan D. Salmans, 85, passed away November 9, 2025 in Dodge City, KS.

He was born July 31, 1940 in Larned, the son of Loren W. and Anna Mildred (Hickman) Salmans.  A lifetime area resident, he was a retired Line Foreman for Midwest Energy and was a school Bus Driver.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Hanston.  Nolan served as the Mayor of Hanston, School Board Member, Hanston Fire Department, founding member of the Slaton Scholarship Fund and was instrumental with the bicentennial celebration and Oktoberfest.

On August 26, 1961, he married Janice Kay Rima in Hanston.  She survives.

Survivors include: children, Angie (Rob) Charles, Dodge City and their children, Nikki (Austin) Rash, (Ava, Alexa, Bennett), Brady Charles (Shawna), April (Leo) Irby, Jameela, (Anthony), Adonis, Amani, Jordan) Nick (Anne) Jacobs, (Jack, Carlie), Holly (Blake) Hagstrom, (Lincoln, McKinley); Mike (Kim) Salmans, Ozawkie and their children, Jarred (Sarah) Salmans , (Caroline, Marley), Jayton (Danielle) Salmans, (Lucy Mae), Jacelyn Salmans (Andrew); Pam Ensminger, Dodge City and her children, Phillip Broz, Joe (Haley) Broz (Brynley, Benson); Steve (Dartyl) Salmans, McPherson and their children, Deanna (Matt) Mosier, (Jhordan, Jhaidyn), Jayson (Ashley) Baxter (Baylie, Taylor), Jessie (Josh) Stapleton (Emma, Raegan), Emily (deceased), Sayge, Wyatte; Pat (Cindi) Salmans, Wichita and their children, Spencer (Summer) Salmans (Samara), Collin (Isabella) Salmans (Sutton); Blaine (Alicia) Salmans. Virginia Beach, and their children, Dillon (Serena) Salmans, (Elodie (deceased), Ellington, Mercy, Eyla, Joshua, Khayri) Brandon (Cindy) Salmans, (Tytan, Tyson, Pryor) His siblings, Gary Salmans, Spearville, Joyce Boor, Great Bend, Marge Kirby, Hutchinson, Janine (Jerry) Clark, Hutchinson, Arlyn (Sandy) Salmans, Cimarron, Barbara Rohr (deceased).

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Hanston Elk Plaza/Hanston High School, Hanston with Pastor Doug Ellison presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be at the Hanston Cemetery, Hanston.
