Obituary

Larned - Opal E. Battin 92, died, August 6, 2007 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care.

She was born September 17, 1914 at Larned, the daughter of Austin R. and Bertha Mae Malone Kennedy. A long time Larned resident, she was a retired Secretary of Medical Records for Gleason Hospital, and also was a secretary in the banking industry.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, former member of the Ft. Larned Lions Club, and Larned Garden Club all of Larned.

On October 17, 1930 she married C. Melvin Battin at Dodge City. He died November 18, 1999.

Survivors include; a son Melvin Austin Battin, Larned; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Ann Roper and grandson Jeffrey Roper.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with the Pastor Richard Boyer presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
