Patricia A. Barrett's Obituary
Larned- Patricia Ann (Schinstock) Barrett, 78, passed away December 12, 2016 at Diversicare of Larned.
Pat was born in Kinsley, KS to Joe and Edna Schinstock on October 29, 1938. She graduated from Kinsley High School. She then attended the St. Rose Dominican School of Nursing in Great Bend, KS, where she earned her RN degree.
On December 31, 1959 she married Millard K. Barrett in Kinsley, KS. He passed away August 4, 2011
Most of her working years were spent at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned, KS, where she touched many lives. She was involved in many nursing organizations and was a founding member of the Chemical Dependency Nurses Association. She received the Heart of Healthcare Nursing award in 1995. She enjoyed helping her children and grandchildren with their 4-H activities. She also loved attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities and collecting Santa Clauses.
She is survived by four sons, Kevin Barrett and wife Janet of Larned, Steve Barrett and wife Brenda of Garden City, David Barrett of Larned, Jeff Barrett and wife Jennifer of Salina; one daughter, Jody Ary and husband Jeff of Lewis; two brothers, Don Schinstock of Hutchinson and Melvin Schinstock of Kinsley, nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one step great- grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard, infant daughter, Melissa, parents Joe and Edna Schinstock and brothers, Harold and Leo.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with a Vigil Service held Thursday at 7p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be at the Pawnee Rock Cemetery following the service. Family requests everyone to wear Christmas attire.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Pawnee County 4-H Foundation in care of Beckwith Mortuary, PO Box 477 Larned, KS. 67550. Condolences may be left for the family at www.beckwithmortuary.com
