Hanston - Paul "Gunner" Bamberger, of Hanston, Kansas, passed away on November 19, 2025 due to injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident.

Paul, the son of Lloyd and Alice (Pittaway) Bamberger, was born on February 24, 1945, at Gleason Hospital in Larned, Kansas. He grew up in Hanston and later attended Marion High School. In November of his senior year, he set out on an adventurous road trip to Los Angeles with a friend—an early sign of the independent spirit that would shape his life. Upon returning to Kansas, he met the love of his life, Donna, and the two were married on November 13, 1964, in Tijuana, Mexico.

Paul and Donna made their home in Marion and Florence, Kansas before moving to Garden City in 1969 with their young daughter, Adrianna. Their family grew with the arrival of their son, Anthony, in 1970. Over the years, Paul became a successful and versatile businessman. He owned and operated Bamberger wholesale candy and tobacco company in Garden City, followed by Eagle Pawn Shop, and later purchased Gunner's Tavern in Holcomb. In 1990, he founded Quality Cab Company in Garden City, which he ran until relocating to Nickerson, Kansas. He then owned a military surplus store and pawn shop in Hutchinson before eventually returning to his hometown of Hanston. There, he cared for his aging father and worked for the Burdett Co-op. After a decade of dedicated service, Paul retired in 2007.

A lifelong biker, Paul found joy and freedom on the open road. Riding wasn't just a hobby—it was a way of life. He traveled to countless biker rallies across the country, including memorable trips to Sturgis, Daytona, Key West, and Lake Perry in Kansas, where he built lasting friendships and lived out his love for motorcycle culture. He was a proud member of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (M.R.F.) and a life member of A.B.A.T.E. of Kansas.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Alice; his sister, Karen; and his great love, Donna Kay. He is survived by his children Adrianna (Lupe) Franco and Anthony (Joey) Bamberger; his sisters Cindy, Tamara, and Lisa; as well as his children from a former marriage—Lisa (Roger), Donald (Tammi), Craig, and Michelle. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the community for the care, kindness, and support shown to Paul throughout his retirement years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the Hanston Public Library and A.B.A.T.E. of Kansas, in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
