Obituary

Hanston- R. A. Prather, 75, passed away March 22, 2017, at his home in Hanston.

He was born March 30, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Charles Orvle and Mary Stella Whatley Prather. Moving from Texas to Kansas in 2015, he was a business owner and an entrepreneur.

R.A. was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hanston. He was a volunteer and great supporter for the Men and Ladies of Honor and was a leader in Life Recovery Group in the Dallas, Texas area. He was a very devoted husband and father. He was also caring and giving, encouraging towards everyone he met, strong and supportive of his family and most importantly, he put the Lord first.

On March 30, 1984, he married Candace Simcox in Sunnyvale, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife and two sons, Richard (Cathi) Prather, Nashville, TN, Bill (Jamie) Prather, Heartland, TX, three daughters, Sheri Young, Arizona, Melissa (Tony) Rorie, Rowlett, TX, Sarah Daves, Salem, OR; sister, Linda Rippy, Mesquite, TX; nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Marion, Wanda, Dorothy and Grace Etta; two brothers, Charles Ray and Thomas Lee Prather.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, Hanston, with Pastor Rod McMillan presiding.
