Obituary

Richard Dean Wasko, 84, passed away November 16, 2020 at the University of Kansas Health Systems Hays Campus.

He was born June 1, 1936 in Hodgeman County to Lou and Ada Hubin Wasko.

A lifetime area resident he was a member of the Hanston United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and rancher, a past member of the Hanston School Board, and Dodge City Coop.

On March 19, 1961 he married Sonja Fagen at Spearville; she survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Kurt (Kim) Wasko, Winfield; two daughters, Ronna (George) Schmidt, Tribune, Donna (Chad) Kirk, Minneola; a daughter-in-law, Judy Wasko, Jetmore; four brothers, Clark Wasko, Jetmore, Ivan Wasko, Hays, Howard Wasko, Wichita, Burt (Betty) Wasko, Ness City; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Paul Wasko, and a brother, Harry Wasko.

Private family service will be held and a public graveside will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Hanston Cemetery, Hanston, Ks. with Pastor Peter Ntuamwari and Harmon Bliss presiding. Service will be viewable via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be at the Hanston Cemetery with military graveside rites.
