Garfield – Robert Max Birney, 68, passed away October 6, 2017 at Diversicare of Larned.
He was born October 21, 1948 in Kiowa County, KS, the son of Leonard Carl and Edith Fern Addy Birney. He Lived in Larned since 1977 and worked at the Larned State Hospital.
He was a member of the Garfield United Methodist Church, Garfield and loved to garden.
On March 15, 1980, he married Barbara Ann Fox in Larned. She passed away August 7, 2017.
Survivors include: brother, Walter Birney, Dike, TX and a step-son, Leon Ostrander, Great Bend.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Lynn Eugene Birney and two sisters, Marietta Hodgens and Arlette Svobada.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
