Belpre – Robert J. Gales, 86, passed away May 7, 2017, at his home in Belpre.
He was born April 29, 1931, in Belpre, the son of Lawrence P. and Mary Zelesky Gales. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/stockman and worked at Cross Manufacturing for over twenty years in Lewis.
He was a member of the St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, both of Belpre and the American Legion, Macksville.
On October 16, 1956, he married Joyce J. Parker in Larned. She passed away February 16, 2013.
Survivors include: a son, Jake (Laurie) Gales, Belpre; two daughters, Vickie (Randy) Booze, Larned, Patty (Mike) Stapleton, Garden City; two sisters, Margaret Waters, Macksville, Doris Rohr, Wichita; nine grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marion Jones and a grandson, Robert (Bob) Booze.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Belpre Catholic Cemetery, Belpre, with Pastor Bill Stapleton presiding. Burial will be with military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
