Jetmore – Ronnie D. Cole, 68, passed away October 24, 2023 at the family farm with his two sons and wife by his side.
He was born November 25, 1954 in Dodge City, KS; the son of Ralph Ora and Dorothy Elverda Rankin Cole. A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the Jetmore Methodist Church.
Upon graduation from high school, Ron served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1977 serving overseas in Korea. As a teacher in Kinsley-Offerle and a citizen of the world, he made use of a Bachelor's of Elementary Education (St. Mary's) and a Master's of Elementary Counseling (Ft. Hays State). Ron was the co-founder of the Sawlog 'N' Strings Bluegrass Festival, which brought people together with music for 15 years.
Ron was a musician, a teacher, a farmer, painter of houses, a friend, life partner of Diane, builder of toys and playmate of all children. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
On March 15, 1980 he married Diane L. Taylor in Junction City, KS. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jason (Jasmine) Cole, Westwood, KS and Ryan (Jane) Cole, Buena Vista, CO; brother, Ross W. Cole, Derby, KS; four grandchildren, Myah, Josh, Aspen, and Quinton and father-in-law, Roy E. Taylor, Junction City, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law (Marjorie L. Taylor), and a sister, (Roma V. Kerns).
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Jetmore Methodist Church with John Chavez presiding. Inurnment will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023 at Kansas Veteran's Cemetery at Fort Dodge with military honors provided by Kansas Army National Guard and Southwest Kansas Veteran's Funeral Honor Guard.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Prairie or Jetmore Methodist Church, both in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
