Obituary

Jetmore- Roy Dean Schauvliege, 61, passed away August 9, 2015 at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons, KS.

He was born June 16, 1954, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of Clifford Roy and Peggy Speck Schauvliege. A longtime area resident, he was a retired feed mill supervisor for the CO-OP in Jetmore.

He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the American Legion, both of Jetmore and he belonged to the National Rifle Association. He liked to donate to St. Jude's Children's hospital and enjoyed riding his Honda Valkyrie. He especially loved his grandchildren, family and Teri Newman. He served in the United States Marines.

Survivors include: a son, Beau Schauvliege, Dodge City; three daughters, Sierra Schauvliege, Jetmore, Rhiannon Schauvliege, Hutchinson, Madison Schauvliege, Dodge City; a sister, Cathy Schultz, MI; a brother, Perry Schauvliege, Ponca City, Oklahoma; Eleven grandchildren; a step-mom, Edis Schauvliege, Great Bend; three step-sisters, Shawna Hughes, Great Bend, Sandie Switzer-Farmer, Cherrie Warren, Denver, Colorado; one step-brother, Roger Switzer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Bill Elder.

Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Jetmore. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Father Maurice Cummings presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Military rites will follow the service at the front of the church.
