Obituary

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rylan Jason Reece, age 16, who left this world far too soon. Though his time on earth was much too short, the love, kindness, joy and memories he gave to those around him will remain with them forever.

Rylan loved the Lord and carried his faith with him in the way he lived his life. His relationship with God was a part of who he was, and his family and friends find comfort in knowing that he is now resting in the arms of his Savior.

He had a deep passion for the outdoors, especially hunting, where he enjoyed the peace and beauty of nature. He was an old soul, sentimental, and had a love for traditional things and old vehicles. The time spent making memories with family and friends was greatly cherished. He loved playing the guitar and had a beautiful voice, even though not many were fortunate enough to hear him. He found countless ways to make people laugh and, in doing so, made the lives of those around him a little happier. His desire to bring joy to others was one of the many things that made him so deeply loved and will be remembered by all who knew him.

At just 16 years old, Rylan had so much life ahead of him-dreams yet to chase, songs to play, hunts to take, and so many more memories to make. His passing leaves us an emptiness that words cannot describe. But those who know and loved him will carry his memory in their hearts and hold tightly to every moment they were blessed to share with him.

Though we don't understand why God called him home so young, we can find comfort in knowing that his faith was strong and that this is not goodbye, but a "see you later."

Rylan is survived by his parents Jason and Carrie Reece & sister, Breckyn, of Rozel, his girlfriend Laycee Pelton, of Burdett. Rylan's surviving paternal grandparents are Lyle and Teresa Reece, Rozel and maternal grandparents Janet Legg, Green and Mike and Connie Waite, Wakeeney.

Aunt Traci (Cory) Ehrlich, Hoisington, Uncle Jarad (Jennifer) Waite of Abilene, Uncle Dustin Waite of Hoodsport, Washington, Aunt, Jennifer (Matt) Grennan, of Broomfield Colorado, multiple cousins, and a host of friends.

Rylan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, classmates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Until we meet again may you rest peacefully in the presence of the Lord. You were loved beyond words and will never be forgotten.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Valley Community Church, Burdett, with Pastor Jerry Hickey and Pastor Ryan Webster presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present 4-6 p.m. Burial will be in Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett.
