Dallas, Texas – Sherman C. Nystrom, 80, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at his home in Dallas, Texas.
He was born August 5, 1926 at Garfield, Kansas, the son of Carl Fredrick and Mary Irene Dempsy Nystrom.
On September 22, 1946, he married Florence Miller at Garfield. She died November 8, 2005.
Sherman was a retired Professor of Biology with a Masters degree, teaching over 40 years in Great Bend and Wichita. He was a member of VASA Lodge No. 716 (a Swedish organization honoring the VASA Ship), American Legion for over 59 years, Elks Lodge, Over 55 Club at Bethel Lutheran Church, where he and his late wife Florence were longtime members.
Survivors include; a son, Dr. Bruce Nystrom and his wife Judy, Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Kristine Tolls and her husband, Myron, Dallas, Texas; Grandchildren, Captain Jared Nystrom and his wife Pamela, Stationed in Germany; Anne Nystrom, Kendra Nystrom, and Cody Tolls.
He was also preceded in death by grandson, Kyle David Nystrom.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Fr. Paschel Klein presiding.
