Jetmore – Shirley Joan Wasko, 73, died June 20, 2009 at her home in rural Jetmore.
She was born April 7, 1936, in Jetmore, the daughter of Fred LeRoy and Nettie Margaret Hayward Smith. A lifetime area resident, she worked for USD 227 as the Grade School Librarian for 23 years and was a Sheriff Dispatcher for Hodgeman County.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Jetmore.
On May 8, 1970, she married Quinton Hubin. He died March 18, 1975. On November 24, 1976, she married Clark Wasko at Jetmore. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Kendall Hubin, Wichita, Travis Hubin, Wichita, Brad Hubin, Ottawa; two daughters, Candy Campbell, Canon City, Colorado, Gayle Lorett, Jetmore; two brothers, Dean Smith, Kansas City, Kansas, Gene Smith, Woodland Park, Colorado; two sisters, Maurine Frair, Everett, Washington, Pauline Housman, Dodge City; Eleven Grandchildren and Eight Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Smith; a sister, Faye Steele
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Jetmore, with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Friends may call from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore
