Obituary

Garfield – Shirley Sue Wilder, 87, passed away September 9, 2023 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.

She was born May 31, 1936 in Sycamore, Missouri, the daughter of Archie Cloe and Bessie Mamie Baker Berry.

A longtime area resident, she was of the Christian faith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, taking care of kids, gardening, and was a mother and grandmother to everyone she met.

On July 4, 1954 she married Walter E. Wilder at Okmulgee, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on June 10, 2006.

Survivors include: three sons, Earnest Wilder, Mark (Rebecca) Wilder, Raymond (Melody) Wilder; four daughters, Donna Murdock, Debra Griffen, Janice (Duane) Brown, Rosetta (Anthony) Bush; three brothers, James David (Jeanette), Ronald Joseph, Larry Allen (Gayla); forty-four grandchildren, seventy-two great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Michael Wilder, Kenneth Wilder; two daughters, Dortha Love, Marcella Wilder; two brothers, John Calvin, Elmer "Bud" Theodore; and three sisters, Martha Lee, Margerie Rose, and Mary Louise.

Memorial graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Garfield Cemetery with Pastor Jarred Smith presiding. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, Kansas.
