Larned - Thelma F. Deckert, 101, died February 20, 2009 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita.
She was born August 7, 1907 in Garfield, the daughter of Ben E. "Dude" and Anna O'tilda "Daley" Korte Carpenter. A lifetime Pawnee County resident and Edwards County resident; she was a teller for the Home State Bank in Kinsley and the VP at the Register of Deeds office in Larned.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lewis.
On December 20, 1946 she married W.R. Ten Vanderee in Oklahoma. He died November 20, 1954. On November 7, 1967 she married Jesse W. Deckert in Clayton, New Mexico. He died April 21, 2001.
Survivors include; two step-daughters; Lois Kennedy, Pratt, Shirley Brollier, Kinsley, a step-daughter-in-law, Ella Mae Marry, Greensburg a nephew, Robert J. Fitch, Houston, TX and two nieces, Venita Dale Osterer, Harrison, New York and Susan Rogers, Almyra, Arkansas. several great nieces and nephews and numerous step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by; a step-daughter, Glenna Mae Johnson, two brothers, Kenneth and Keith, and a sister, Venita Fitch.
Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, with the Pastor Dennis Scheibmeier presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, Kansas.
