Velma Harman – 77, died August 9, 2011, at her home in Garfield.
She was born March 5, 1934, in Stafford County, the daughter of James Henry and Carrie Weve Cassady. A longtime area resident, she was a USD #495 school bus driver.
She was a member of the Fort Larned Lions Club.
On February 18, 1954, she married G- R Harman at Cherokee, Oklahoma. He died December 29, 2004.
Survivors include: two sons, Victor Harman and wife Nancy, Garden City, Gaylon Harman, Lansing; four daughters, Glynda Harman and Velina Harman, both of Bonner Springs, Ks., Dianna Manzanares and husband Gerald, Pueblo, Colorado, Denise Hoch and husband Robert, Garfield; a sister, Velda Souter, Hutchinson; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by three brothers, James, Dale Edwin and John Henry; two sisters, Norma Vaughn and Laura Cook.
Funeral will be at 2p.m. Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Leroy Lyon presiding. Visitation will be from 1p.m. to 8p.m. Sunday and 9a.m. to 8p.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Macksville.
Memorials may be sent to the Fort Larned Lions Club or the Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice in care of the mortuary.
