Obituary

Burdett – Velma Jean Winter, 89, passed away February 5, 2020 in La Crosse.

Jean was born April 22, 1930 in Marina Township, Hodgeman County to Ralph Jacob and Laura Mae Cox Brown.

A lifetime Hodgeman and Pawnee County resident, she was a teacher, a homemaker and a farm wife. She was of the Methodist faith.

On May 21, 1949 she married Henry O. Winter at Burdett; he survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Roland O. (Marlene) Winter, Keith Winter, both of Burdett; a daughter, Lana Jean (David) Strom, Des Moines, IA; a sister, Myrna Kaiser, Delphos; three grandchildren, Rolland Winter, Jolene Roth, and Julianna Montgomery; five great grandchildren, Alexis Winter, Jake Montgomery, Joey Montgomery, Cameron Roth, Haley Roth; one great-great granddaughter, Evie Winter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dwight Brown, Robert Brown, and Donald Brown; two sisters, Louise Herl, and Janelda O'Brien.

Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Gary Winget presiding. Visitation 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial in Larned Cemetery, Larned.
