Obituary

Venita Carpenter Fitch, passed away on December 18, 2005. Venita was born on November 17, 1908 in Garfield, Kansas to Anna Korte Carpenter and Ben Carpenter. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1927 and went on to Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and became a music (violin) teacher. She married Carl Delbert Fitch of Bushong, Kansas on January 28, 1933, and had two children, Robert J. Fitch and Venita Fitch Osterer. They resided in Houston, Texas where they were founders of the Exchange Club of Houston. Venita moved to New York in 1999 to be closer to her daughter. She is survived by her sister, Thelma Deckert of Larned, Kansas, son Robert Fitch and wife Darlyn, grandson Richard Fitch and great - granddaughter Robin Fitch. Also she is survived by her daughter Venita Osterer and her husband Richard Osterer, three grandchildren, Robin Chalker and husband Charles, Rod Osterer, Martin Osterer and two great grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Chalker. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, the casket will be closed. A family remembrance time will be at 2:00 p.m. Wed, Dec. 28th at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel. She will be buried in the Garfield Cemetery along side of her parents and her brother Kenneth Carpenter.
