Jetmore – Verne Jack Gibbs, 82, died May 25, 2013 at Cedar Village Nursing Home, Ness City.
He was born June 29, 1930 in Hodgeman County, the son of Jasper and Emma Anderson Gibbs. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer.
He was of the Christian faith. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion, Jetmore, the V.F.W., Dodge City and the Masonic Lodge.
On December 27, 1952, he married Rogena Mae Crotinger. She passed away September 7, 1961. On October 10, 1969, he married Mary Ann Hertel in Jetmore. She passed away October 30, 2011.
Survivors include: two daughters, Jacquelyn Foos and husband Steve, Ness City, Sabrena Clinebell, Omaha, Nebraska; a son, Curtis Gibbs and wife Karol, Baytown, Texas; a brother, Frank Gibbs, Jetmore; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Eric Gibbs, two brothers, Cecil and Sidney Gibbs, a sister, Jessie Mae Ling.
Graveside memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with Pastor Dennis Fulton presiding. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register book from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore.
