Veryl H. (Doc) Holmes' Obituary
Hanston- Veryl H. (Doc) Holmes, 94, died September 18, 2010, at his home, Hanston.
He was born June 5, 1916, at Russell, the son of Elmer Martin and Flora Mae Goller Holmes. A lifetime area resident he was a farmer-stockman.
He belonged to the United Methodist Church, Hanston.
On January 27, 1940, he married Irene I. Bamberger in Iuka, Ks. She died March 11, 2007.
Survivors include: two sons, Randall and Roger Holmes, both of Hanston; three daughters, Sandra Brown, Durango, Colorado, Sheryl Porter and Sonja Horyna, both of Hanston; two brothers, Merrill Holmes, Marietta, Georgia, Leo Holmes, Hesston; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Harper and a great grandson, Gage Porter.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Hanston, with Dr. Dyton L. Owen presiding. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Hanston Cemetery, Hanston.
Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church, Hanston or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
