Hanston – Virginia Ethel Potter, 80, passed away August 20, 2014, at the Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore. She was born November 8, 1933 in Caddo, Oklahoma the daughter of Murphy Dock and Addie Bell Sparkman Vaughn. She was a cook at the nursing home.
She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Bloom, Kansas.
Survivors include: a son, Ray Metcalf and his wife Sylvia; three daughters, Ethel Lackey, Flint, Texas, Rita Durum, Lindale, Texas and Leea Kay Lackey, Kilgore, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, M.D. Vaughn and Jack Sawyer; two sisters, Minnie Redding and Addie Bell York and other extended family.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Jetmore, with Pastor Allen Smith presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
