Larned - Wallace Edwin Cherry, 87 died November 16, 2009 at his home in Larned.
He was born October 15, 1922 in Wichita, the son of Esezra and Blanche Newton Cherry. A resident of Larned since 1977 moving from Beloit, he was a retired Life Insurance Agent.
He attended the Larned First Christian Church, was a member of the VFW, Great Bend, and serviced in the Army during WWII.
On November 7, 1977 he married Betty Armstrong Miller at Beloit. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Wallace, Stockton; a daughter, Penny Lohr, Pawnee Rock; a step-son, Sandy Miller, Nacogdoches, Texas; two brothers, Richard Cherry, Plainville, Kansas, Wayne Stanfield, Wichita; a sister, Leoma Stanfield, Hutchinson; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pat Rogers; a brother, Robert Cherry; and a grandson Billy Lohr.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Dan Lundgren presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
