Larned – Walter R. Martin Jr., 92, passed away February 15, 2017 at Country Living of Larned, Memory Care, Larned, Kansas.

He was born October 10, 1924 in Trousdale, KS, the son of Walter R. Sr. and Nellie Morey Martin. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/stockman and enjoyed carpentry.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, both of Larned, enjoyed playing cards and loved dancing with mom. He served in the United States Army.

On June 2, 1948, he married Dolores M. Wurm in Larned. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Duane Martin, Arlington, TX, Steven (Terry) Martin and Ralph (Alicia) Martin, both of Larned; three daughters, Diane Ford, Kinsley, Karen McAllister, Larned, Jeanne (Christopher) Martin-Herman, Garfield; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell A. Martin; three brothers, Rudolph, Emil and Howard Martin; an infant sister; a granddaughter, Chaitra Willow Ford and a great grandson, Kyler Lee Martin.

Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, with military graveside rites.
