Jetmore – William M. Maskus, 89, died February 8, 2014, at Fort Dodge Halsey Hall, Dodge City.

He was born August 21, 1924, in Jetmore, the son of George and Alta Morris Maskus. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/cattleman. He drove school bus for Jetmore public schools for 14 years.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City, and D.A.V., He served in the United States Army in WWII from 1944 to 1946, where he was wounded on Okinawa, April 30, 1945 and received the Combat Infantryman Badge, two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.

On October 24, 1948, he married Irene Elizabeth Weiss in Zion Lutheran Church, Ford County. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Bill G. (Lana) Maskus , Wright, Stan D. (Donna) Maskus, Hays; a daughter, Shirley (Jeff) Jaeger, Hutchinson; three brothers, Robert (Nancy), Jetmore, Jim (Pat) Edmond, OK, Richard (Linda) Platte City, MO; two sisters, Phyllis (Everett) Weiss, Offerle, Helen (Edgar) Wetzel, Great Bend; five grandchildren, Mark and Matthew Maskus, Megan (Justin) Scheve, Jacob (Dani) Jaeger and Mitchell Jaeger. A great granddaughter, Savanna Scheve.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathy Maskus; two brothers, Paul and Jack Maskus; two sisters, Jean Bushell and Joyce Koehn.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City, with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the St. Michael's Lutheran Cemetery, South West Hodgeman County,
